Ingredients

  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 ½ tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1 small onion, finely sliced
  • 1 medium stick fresh horseradish, scraped
  • 7-8 peppercorns
  • 3-4 whole cloves
  • 2 anchovies
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

Method

  1. 1 In a saucepan, melt butter with flour to make a roux.
  2. 2 Add beef broth, anchovies, peppercorns, and cloves. Simmer.
  3. 3 Stir in sliced onion and scraped horseradish. Cook until tender.
