Honey Doughnuts
Ingredients
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3 tablespoons Crisco
- 1 1/2 cups honey
- 1 cup sour milk
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon lemon extract
- 5 3/4 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
Method
- 1 Cream Crisco, honey, and sugar together.
- 2 Add well-beaten eggs and mix well.
- 3 Mix in sour milk and lemon extract.
- 4 Add flour, salt, baking soda, and cream of tartar; mix thoroughly.
- 5 Turn out onto a baking board and roll out.
- 6 Cut with a doughnut cutter.
- 7 Fry in plenty of hot Crisco until golden brown.
