Homemade Vanilla Frozen Custard

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • egg yolks
  • sugar
  • vanilla
  • chopped conserved fruit (optional)
  • chopped black walnuts (optional)

Method

  1. 1 Place milk in a double boiler. Whisk in egg yolks and sugar.
  2. 2 Stir constantly over heat until the mixture thickens.
  3. 3 Remove from heat and let cool completely. Stir in vanilla.
  4. 4 Pour into an ice cream freezer and churn according to manufacturer's directions.
  5. 5 Just before finishing, stir in chopped fruit or black walnuts if desired.
