Homemade Vanilla Caramel Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Method
- 1 Place half the sugar in an iron saucepan over medium heat. Let it melt and brown, swirling occasionally.
- 2 Hastily add the water, remaining sugar, and lemon juice. Stir to combine.
- 3 Boil for about two minutes until slightly thickened.
- 4 Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract. Serve plain or with chopped fruit or nuts.
