Homemade Stovetop Apple Sauce
Ingredients
- 10 medium-sized apples
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- lemon peel, cinnamon, or nutmeg (optional)
Method
- 1 Wash, quarter, and core the apples; peel if desired.
- 2 Place apples in a saucepan with water and cook until very soft.
- 3 Force the cooked apples through a colander or sieve.
- 4 Return pulp to stove, add sugar, and cook until dissolved and slightly thickened, stirring frequently.
- 5 Remove from heat and season with lemon peel, cinnamon, or nutmeg.
