Homemade Raspberry Wine

Ingredients

  • 1 quart raspberries
  • 1 quart water
  • 3 pounds lump sugar
  • 1 spoonful brandy or 1 glass wine per bottle

Method

  1. 1 Pick over raspberries and add an equal amount of water. Bruise the fruit and let it stand for two days.
  2. 2 Strain off the liquid. For every gallon of liquid, add three pounds of lump sugar and stir until dissolved.
  3. 3 Transfer the mixture to a clean barrel or keg and let it ferment for two months.
  4. 4 Bottle the wine, adding a spoonful of brandy or a glass of wine to each bottle before sealing.
