Homemade Orange Marmalade
Ingredients
- 1 lb oranges
- 3 pints cold water
- 1.25 lb sugar
Method
- 1 Cut oranges in half and scoop out the inside.
- 2 Slice the peel very fine and remove seeds from the pulp.
- 3 Mix peel and pulp together and weigh them.
- 4 Pour 3 pints of cold water over the fruit and let stand for 24 hours.
- 5 Boil until the chips are tender, about 1.5 hours.
- 6 Let the mixture stand for another 24 hours.
- 7 Add 1.25 pounds of sugar for every pound of boiled fruit.
- 8 Boil until the syrup jellies and chips are transparent.
