Homemade Orange Marmalade

Ingredients

  • 1 lb oranges
  • 3 pints cold water
  • 1.25 lb sugar

Method

  1. 1 Cut oranges in half and scoop out the inside.
  2. 2 Slice the peel very fine and remove seeds from the pulp.
  3. 3 Mix peel and pulp together and weigh them.
  4. 4 Pour 3 pints of cold water over the fruit and let stand for 24 hours.
  5. 5 Boil until the chips are tender, about 1.5 hours.
  6. 6 Let the mixture stand for another 24 hours.
  7. 7 Add 1.25 pounds of sugar for every pound of boiled fruit.
  8. 8 Boil until the syrup jellies and chips are transparent.
