Homemade Cherry Pie Filling

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb pitted cherries
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup cold water

Method

  1. 1 Combine cherries, sugar, and 1 cup water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil.
  2. 2 Reduce heat and simmer until cherries are soft.
  3. 3 Dissolve cornstarch in 1/2 cup cold water. Stir into the cherry mixture.
  4. 4 Bring back to a boil and cook for 5 minutes until thickened.
  5. 5 Remove from heat and let cool before using.
