Homemade Apple Orange Marmalade
Ingredients
- 7 lbs green apples
- 3 oranges
- 5 lbs granulated sugar
- Water
Method
- 1 Wash apples, remove imperfections, blossom, and stem. Cut into very small pieces without coring or peeling.
- 2 Wash oranges. Remove peel, discarding inner white pith and seeds. Chop peel and orange pulp into very small pieces.
- 3 Place apple pieces in a pot with enough water to cover. Boil until very soft, then mash finely.
- 4 Strain the mashed apples through a jelly bag overnight to extract the juice.
- 5 Boil the apple juice with the chopped orange pulp and peel for 20 minutes until the orange is cooked.
- 6 Add 5 lbs of granulated sugar and boil until the mixture jells when tested on a cold saucer.
