Hickory Nut Candy

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 teaspoon lemon extract or vanilla extract
  • 1 cup hickory nut meats

Method

  1. 1 Boil sugar and water without stirring until thick enough to spin a thread.
  2. 2 Place saucepan in cold water, add flavoring, and stir quickly until the mixture turns white.
  3. 3 Stir in the hickory nut meats and turn into a flat buttered tin.
  4. 4 Let cool completely, then cut into squares.
