Hickory Nut Cake With Walnut Garnish

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 cup chopped hickory nuts
  • icing for topping
  • large pieces English walnuts for garnish

Method

  1. 1 Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  2. 2 Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the water.
  3. 3 Combine the flour and cream of tartar, then fold into the wet ingredients along with the chopped hickory nuts.
  4. 4 Pour batter into a prepared pan and bake at 350°F until done.
  5. 5 Ice the top and place large pieces of English walnuts on the icing.
