Hearty Cabbage And Turnip Vegetable Soup
Ingredients
- 1 soup bone
- 3 quarts water
- 1 small cabbage, finely cut
- 3 large potatoes, cubed
- 2 large carrots, chopped
- 2 turnips, chopped
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 3 teaspoons salt
- 0.5 teaspoon pepper
- Celery and green pepper, to taste
- 2-3 tomatoes, optional
Method
- 1 Place soup bone and all vegetables except potatoes in a pot with cold water.
- 2 Bring to a simmer, keeping the pot uncovered, and cook slowly for 1 hour.
- 3 Add potatoes and tomatoes (if using) and cook for another hour until vegetables are tender.
