Hawthorn Blossom Brandy Cordial

Ingredients

  • 1 basketful hawthorn blooms (white petals only, no leaves or stalks)
  • French Brandy
  • Water (optional)
  • Sugar (optional)

Method

  1. 1 Pick hawthorn blooms when in full bloom. Separate the white petals, ensuring no leaves or stalks are included.
  2. 2 Place the petals into a large glass bottle. Fill the bottle to the top without pressing the petals down.
  3. 3 Pour French Brandy into the bottle until it is full. Cork the bottle tightly.
  4. 4 Let the mixture stand for three months. Strain the liquid off into a clean container.
  5. 5 Serve as a cordial. Dilute with water or sweeten with sugar if the flavor is too strong.
