Haricot Bean And Green Pea Stew
Ingredients
- 1 pint soaked haricot beans
- 1 pint shelled green peas
- 1 1/2 pints water
- 1 onion
- 1 ounce butter
- 1/2 ounce flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1 sprig mint
- toast slices for serving
Method
- 1 Boil the haricot beans in 1 pint of water with 1 teaspoon of salt and the sliced onion until cooked.
- 2 Thicken the bean mixture with a paste made from the flour and butter.
- 3 Boil the green peas in the remaining water with the remaining salt and mint until tender.
- 4 Mix the cooked peas with the beans and serve with toast slices.
