Gruyere Parmesan Cheese Balls
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons flour
- Milk (for white sauce)
- 3 egg yolks
- 4 ounces Gruyère cheese, finely grated
- Parmesan cheese, finely grated
- Juice of ½ lemon
- Pinch of cayenne pepper
- Breadcrumbs
- Oil or fat for deep frying
Method
- 1 Make a white sauce using 2 tablespoons of flour and milk. Stir in the 3 egg yolks.
- 2 Mix in the grated Gruyère and Parmesan cheeses, lemon juice, and cayenne. Let the mixture cool completely.
- 3 Form the cooled cheese mixture into small balls and roll them in breadcrumbs.
- 4 Deep fry the balls in hot oil until golden brown. Drain and serve immediately.
