Grilled Garlic Flatbread
Ingredients
- 1 packet active dry yeast (1/4 ounce)
- 1 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 3 tablespoons milk (1%)
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 4 1/2 cups bread flour
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic (optional)
- 4 tablespoons melted butter
Method
- 1 Dissolve yeast in warm water in a large bowl and let stand 10 minutes until frothy.
- 2 Stir in sugar, milk, egg, salt, and enough flour to make a soft dough.
- 3 Knead on a lightly floured surface for 6-8 minutes until smooth.
- 4 Let dough rise for 1 hour until doubled in volume.
- 5 Punch down dough, knein in garlic, pinch into golf ball-sized pieces, and roll into balls.
- 6 Cover balls and let rise 30 minutes. Preheat grill to high heat.
- 7 Roll one ball into a thin circle. Lightly oil grill and place dough on it.
- 8 Cook 2-3 minutes until puffy and browned. Brush uncooked side with butter and flip.
- 9 Brush cooked side with butter and cook 2-4 minutes until browned. Repeat with remaining dough.
