Green Tea Berry Banana Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 3 cups water
  • 8 single-serving bags green tea
  • 3 cups frozen mixed berries (16 ounces)
  • 2 medium bananas, peeled, cut in half, and frozen
  • 1 cup fat-free plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 teaspoons fresh grated peeled gingerroot (optional)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract (optional)
  • 2 teaspoons chia or flax seeds (optional)

Method

  1. 1 Bring 3 cups water to a boil in a saucepan. Remove from heat, add tea bags, and steep for 4 minutes. Discard bags.
  2. 2 Let tea cool for 30 minutes, then refrigerate in a pitcher for 2 hours until chilled.
  3. 3 In a blender, combine chilled tea, frozen berries, frozen bananas, yogurt, ginger, and vanilla. Process until smooth.
  4. 4 Pour into four glasses and sprinkle with chia or flax seeds before serving.
