Graham And White Flour Quick Bread
Ingredients
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1½ cups graham flour
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon shortening
- 1 egg
- 1½ cups liquid (½ water and ½ milk)
- 2 tablespoons sugar or molasses
Method
- 1 Mix flour, graham flour, baking powder, and salt together.
- 2 Rub in the shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- 3 Beat the egg and add it with sugar or molasses to the liquid.
- 4 Stir the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and beat well.
- 5 Add more milk if necessary to create a drop batter consistency.
- 6 Pour into a greased loaf pan, smooth the top with a knife dipped in cold water, and bake in a moderate oven (350°F) for about one hour.
