Glazed Yeast Teacakes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 oz butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 oz German yeast

Method

  1. 1 Rub butter into flour in a basin.
  2. 2 Blend tepid milk with yeast, then strain into flour.
  3. 3 Add egg and beat all ingredients together for a few minutes.
  4. 4 Knead lightly, divide dough into two balls, and place in floured cake tins.
  5. 5 Let rise in a warm place for one hour.
  6. 6 Bake for 20 minutes, then brush with sugar and water syrup to glaze.
