Glazed Yeast Rolls

Ingredients

  • 4 oz butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup scalding milk, cooled to 80°F
  • 2 large eggs, well-beaten
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cake yeast
  • 4 cups flour
  • 4 tbsp syrup
  • 2 tbsp water

Method

  1. 1 Melt butter and place in a mixing bowl.
  2. 2 Add sugar, cooled scalding milk, beaten eggs, salt, and yeast; stir to mix.
  3. 3 Add flour and work into a smooth elastic dough.
  4. 4 Grease bowl, place dough inside, press down, turn over, cover, and rise for 4 hours.
  5. 5 Turn onto a board, knead for 2 minutes, and cut into pieces.
  6. 6 Roll into round balls, cover, and rest for 10 minutes.
  7. 7 Press flat, place on a greased baking sheet, and rise for 30 minutes.
  8. 8 Brush with a mixture of syrup and water.
  9. 9 Bake in a hot oven (425°F) for 15 minutes.
