Glazed Yeast Rolls
Ingredients
- 4 oz butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup scalding milk, cooled to 80°F
- 2 large eggs, well-beaten
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 cake yeast
- 4 cups flour
- 4 tbsp syrup
- 2 tbsp water
Method
- 1 Melt butter and place in a mixing bowl.
- 2 Add sugar, cooled scalding milk, beaten eggs, salt, and yeast; stir to mix.
- 3 Add flour and work into a smooth elastic dough.
- 4 Grease bowl, place dough inside, press down, turn over, cover, and rise for 4 hours.
- 5 Turn onto a board, knead for 2 minutes, and cut into pieces.
- 6 Roll into round balls, cover, and rest for 10 minutes.
- 7 Press flat, place on a greased baking sheet, and rise for 30 minutes.
- 8 Brush with a mixture of syrup and water.
- 9 Bake in a hot oven (425°F) for 15 minutes.
