German Spaetzle Dumplings

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp salt

Method

  1. 1 Add milk to flour slowly, stirring constantly to keep the mixture smooth.
  2. 2 Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in salt.
  3. 3 Bring a pot of salted water or meat broth to a boil.
  4. 4 Hold a shallow bowl over the boiling liquid and tilt it to pour the batter.
  5. 5 Use a sharp knife to slice off pieces of batter directly into the liquid.
  6. 6 Dip the knife in the liquid before each cut to prevent sticking. Cook until done.
