Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 3 to 4 cups flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • oil for deep frying

Method

  1. 1 Beat eggs, sugar, and milk together in a bowl.
  2. 2 Sift half the flour, salt, and baking powder, then add to the wet mixture.
  3. 3 Beat until smooth, adding more flour as needed until the batter is thin enough to run through a funnel.
  4. 4 Heat oil to 375°F in a deep pot.
  5. 5 Pour batter through a funnel into the hot oil, swirling to create shapes.
  6. 6 Fry until golden, then serve hot with molasses, jam, or powdered sugar.
