Fruit Pie With Butter Crust
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups flour
- ¾ cup butter
- fruit (peaches, plums, cherries, or apples)
- sugar
- lemon peel (optional)
Method
- 1 Mix 1 ½ cups flour and ¾ cup butter to make a common pie crust.
- 2 Prepare fruit: halve peaches and plums, stone cherries (red only), or slice apples thinly.
- 3 If using apples, stew until tender but not broken, drain, and chop fine.
- 4 Mix fruit with sugar. For juicy fruit, place a small teacup on the bottom crust to catch juice, then pile fruit around it.
- 5 Cover with top crust, prick with a fork, crimp edges, and grate loaf sugar over the top if desired.
