Fruit Cobbler
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ½ cup butter
- 1 egg
- 1 cup milk
- Fresh or stewed fruit (apples, peaches, apricots, rhubarb, plums, or gooseberries)
- Sugar to taste
Method
- 1 Fill a deep buttered baking dish with fresh or stewed fruit sweetened to taste.
- 2 Sift together 2 cups flour and 2 tsp baking powder. Rub in ½ cup butter.
- 3 Add 1 beaten egg and 1 cup milk to the flour mixture to form a batter.
- 4 Spread the batter over the fruit and bake until the crust is done.
- 5 Serve hot or cold with cream or preferred sauce.
