Fruit And Nut Cinnamon Rolls

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cake yeast
  • 1/4 cup lukewarm water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup melted Crisco
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup chopped coconut
  • 1/8 lb chopped candied citron peel
  • 1/2 cup chopped English walnut meats
  • 1/2 cup currants
  • 1/2 cup sultana raisins
  • 1/2 teaspoon powdered cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon powdered mace
  • Flour

Method

  1. 1 Scald milk, then add yeast cake dissolved in tepid water and 1 1/2 cups flour; beat well, cover, and let rise until light.
  2. 2 Add sugar, salt, well-beaten eggs, and Crisco; add enough flour to knead, then knead and let rise again.
  3. 3 Roll dough to 1/8-inch thickness, spread with melted Crisco, and sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon, mace, fruit, and nuts.
  4. 4 Roll like a jelly roll and cut into 1-inch pieces.
