Frozen Vanilla Custard Ice Cream
Ingredients
- 1 pint milk
- ½ pint cream
- 1 egg, well beaten
- 1 scant cup granulated sugar
- 1 level tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Method
- 1 Scald 1 pint milk and ½ pint cream in a saucepan.
- 2 Whisk together 1 beaten egg, 1 scant cup sugar, and 1 tablespoon cornstarch.
- 3 Pour the egg mixture into the hot milk and cream, stirring constantly until it boils.
- 4 Remove from heat and let the mixture cool completely.
- 5 Stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla and freeze according to your ice cream maker's instructions.
