Frozen Ladyfinger Fruit Mold

Ingredients

  • 1 cup candied fruit, cut into pieces
  • Sugar and water for hot syrup
  • 1 quart heavy cream
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • Flavoring of choice
  • Ladyfingers for lining mold
  • Salt and ice for freezing
  • Boiled custard or whipped cream for serving

Method

  1. 1 Soak candied fruit in hot sugar syrup until softened, then drain.
  2. 2 Whip cream with sugar and flavoring until stiff peaks form.
  3. 3 Line a 2-quart mold with ladyfingers, crust side down.
  4. 4 Layer the mold with cream and soaked fruit, ending with cream.
  5. 5 Cover mold, pack in salt and ice, and freeze for 2 hours.
  6. 6 Unmold and serve with boiled custard or whipped cream.
