Frozen Cherry Custard

Ingredients

  • 1 quart cherries, pitted
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs, well-beaten

Method

  1. 1 Pit the cherries and place them in a saucepan with 1 cup of sugar.
  2. 2 Cook the cherries in their own juice and sugar until soft.
  3. 3 In a separate saucepan, dissolve the cornstarch in the milk.
  4. 4 Bring the milk mixture to a boil and cook slowly for five minutes.
  5. 5 Stir in the remaining 3/4 cup of sugar and the beaten eggs.
  6. 6 Mix in the prepared cherries, chill, and then freeze.
