Frozen Cherry Custard
Ingredients
- 1 quart cherries, pitted
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 cups milk
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 eggs, well-beaten
Method
- 1 Pit the cherries and place them in a saucepan with 1 cup of sugar.
- 2 Cook the cherries in their own juice and sugar until soft.
- 3 In a separate saucepan, dissolve the cornstarch in the milk.
- 4 Bring the milk mixture to a boil and cook slowly for five minutes.
- 5 Stir in the remaining 3/4 cup of sugar and the beaten eggs.
- 6 Mix in the prepared cherries, chill, and then freeze.
