Fried Yeast Doughnuts
Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 5 tablespoons Crisco
- 3 eggs
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon grated nutmeg
- 4 1/2 to 5 cups flour, sifted
Method
- 1 Cream Crisco and gradually add sugar.
- 2 Add well-beaten eggs to the creamed mixture.
- 3 Sift dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, salt, nutmeg) together.
- 4 Add dry ingredients and milk alternately to the egg mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- 5 Roll out the dough as thinly as possible.
- 6 Cut into shapes and fry in hot Crisco until golden brown.
