Fried Parmesan Cheese Balls
Ingredients
- 4 oz fine bread crumbs
- 4 oz grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 oz butter
- salt and cayenne to taste
- 1 well-beaten egg
- bread crumbs for coating
Method
- 1 In a mortar, pound together bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, butter, salt, and cayenne until thoroughly combined.
- 2 Bind the mixture with the beaten egg and form into small balls.
- 3 Dip each ball in egg, then roll in bread crumbs to coat.
- 4 Fry in hot oil until light brown and crisp.
- 5 Drain on paper towels and serve immediately while very hot.
