Fried Cheese And Vermicelli Fritters

Ingredients

  • 4 ounces vermicelli
  • 4 ounces grated cheese
  • 1 pint milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • Egg and bread crumbs
  • 1 ounce grated cheese (for coating)

Method

  1. 1 Break up vermicelli and mix with 3 ounces of cheese in a pie dish. Add salt, pepper, and milk.
  2. 2 Bake for about 30 minutes, stirring once or twice at the beginning, until cold and firm.
  3. 3 Cut the baked mixture into squares or shapes. Mix remaining 1 ounce of cheese into bread crumbs.
  4. 4 Roll pieces in egg, then in the cheese-breadcrumb mixture. Fry in boiling oil until crisp and brown.
