Fried Bread Fritters With Syrup
Ingredients
- light bread, sliced ½-inch thick
- oil or fat for frying
- orange syrup, lemon syrup, or hot preserve
- honey or golden syrup (optional)
Method
- 1 Cut the bread slices into neat, uniform shapes using a round cutter.
- 2 Heat oil or fat in a pan until very hot.
- 3 Fry the bread pieces quickly until golden brown on both sides.
- 4 Drain the fritters on paper towels.
- 5 Serve warm, drizzled with orange syrup, lemon syrup, hot preserve, honey, or golden syrup.
