Fresh Fruit Cake

Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons butter
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1¾ cups flour
  • 2 scant teaspoons baking powder
  • Fresh fruit of any kind

Method

  1. 1 Cream together butter, sugar, egg, milk, salt, and flour. Beat well.
  2. 2 Mix in baking powder and turn batter into a shallow, well-buttered pan.
  3. 3 Cover the bottom of the pan with fresh fruit of any kind.
  4. 4 Bake in a moderate oven (350°F) for one-half hour.
  5. 5 Serve warm with cream or sauce.
