  • 1 pint milk
  • Cinnamon or nutmeg to taste
  • 4 slices homemade bread, ½ inch thick, crusts removed
  • Butter for frying

Method

  1. 1 Sweeten the milk and flavor with cinnamon or nutmeg to taste.
  2. 2 Soak the bread slices in the custard until fully absorbed, turning them once.
  3. 3 Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  4. 4 Fry the bread slices until golden brown on both sides.
  5. 5 Arrange on a platter and serve with or without sauce.
