French Onion Soup With Croutons
Ingredients
- 5 onions, chopped fine
- Butter
- 1 tsp sugar
- 8 cups hot beef stock
- 1 bay leaf
- 6 peppercorns
- 1 tbsp minced parsley
- Dice of fried or toasted bread
Method
- 1 Chop onions fine and fry in butter until brown, adding 1 tsp sugar.
- 2 Pour 8 cups hot beef stock over the onions. Add bay leaf, peppercorns, and parsley.
- 3 Simmer for 15 minutes, then strain the soup.
- 4 Serve with dice of fried or toasted bread.
