Fluffy Waffles With Separated Egg Whites
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- 1¾ cups milk
- 2 large eggs, separated
- 1 tablespoon melted shortening
Method
- 1 Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt together into a large bowl.
- 2 Whisk the milk into the egg yolks until well combined.
- 3 Pour the milk mixture into the dry ingredients and mix thoroughly.
- 4 Stir in the melted shortening, then gently fold in the beaten egg whites.
- 5 Pour batter onto a well-greased, hot waffle iron and bake until brown.
- 6 Serve immediately with butter and syrup.
