Flour Thickened Onion Soup On Bread
Ingredients
- 6 onions, chopped fine
- 2 oz butter or dripping fat
- 6 oz flour or oatmeal
- 3 quarts water
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Slices of bread
Method
- 1 Chop onions fine and fry in a large saucepan with butter or dripping fat, stirring continuously until very light in color.
- 2 Add flour or oatmeal and moisten with water. Season with salt and pepper.
- 3 Stir while boiling for 20 minutes.
- 4 Pour the soup over slices of bread in a bowl or pan and serve.
