Flavored Butter Loaf Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 6 ounces butter
  • 4 cups flour
  • 5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon flavoring
  • 1 ¼ cups milk
  • 4 egg whites

Method

  1. 1 In a mixing bowl, cream 1 ½ cups sugar and 4 egg yolks until well blended.
  2. 2 Add 6 ounces butter and cream again.
  3. 3 Add 4 cups flour, 5 teaspoons baking powder, 1 teaspoon flavoring, and 1 ¼ cups milk. Beat to mix.
  4. 4 Cut and fold in the stiffly beaten whites of 4 eggs.
  5. 5 Place in a well-greased and floured loaf-shaped pan and bake for 50 minutes in a moderate oven (350°F).
