Flamed Stuffed Apples With Jam Syrup

  • apples
  • sugar
  • water
  • apricot or raspberry jam
  • rum or brandy

Method

  1. 1 Pare and core the apples.
  2. 2 Stew the apples in sugar and water until tender but firm enough to hold their shape.
  3. 3 Remove the apples carefully to a serving dish.
  4. 4 Fill the centers of the apples with apricot or raspberry jam.
  5. 5 Boil down the cooking liquid to a thick syrup and pour it over the apples.
  6. 6 Just before serving, pour a few spoonfuls of rum or brandy over the apples.
  7. 7 Light the alcohol with a taper on the table and serve with fancy cakes.
