English Bath Buns With Currants
Ingredients
- 1 cake compressed yeast
- 1 cup milk
- 2 cups flour
- 2/3 cup melted butter
- 4 eggs, well beaten
- currants
- candied peel
- sugar for sprinkling
Method
- 1 Dissolve yeast in warm milk. Add 2 cups flour to make a sponge. Let rise until light.
- 2 Stir in melted butter and beaten eggs. Knead well and let rise again for about 1 hour.
- 3 Shape dough into small apple-sized balls. Press currants and candied peel into each.
- 4 Let rise 10-15 minutes in a warm place. Sprinkle with sugar and bake until golden.
