Egg Yolk Milk Biscuits
Ingredients
- 2 cups bread flour
- 5 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 tablespoons shortening
- 1 egg yolk, slightly beaten
- 2/3 cup milk
- milk or melted butter for brushing
Method
- 1 Sift together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
- 2 Work in shortening with fingers. Mix beaten egg yolk with milk and cut into flour mixture with a knife.
- 3 Toss on floured surface and knead for 5 minutes.
- 4 Shape biscuits and bake at 400°F for 15 minutes.
- 5 Brush with milk or melted butter just before removing from oven.
