Egg Yolk Milk Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 2 cups bread flour
  • 5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons shortening
  • 1 egg yolk, slightly beaten
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • milk or melted butter for brushing

Method

  1. 1 Sift together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  2. 2 Work in shortening with fingers. Mix beaten egg yolk with milk and cut into flour mixture with a knife.
  3. 3 Toss on floured surface and knead for 5 minutes.
  4. 4 Shape biscuits and bake at 400°F for 15 minutes.
  5. 5 Brush with milk or melted butter just before removing from oven.
