Double Boiler Hot Chocolate With Whipped Cream
Ingredients
- 1 ounce unsweetened chocolate
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 tablespoons hot water
- 2 cups scalded milk
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla (optional)
- whipped cream for serving
Method
- 1 Cut chocolate into small pieces and place in a saucepan with sugar and hot water.
- 2 Boil the mixture, stirring constantly, until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
- 3 Gradually stir in the scalded milk.
- 4 Cook in a double boiler for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 5 Remove from heat and stir in vanilla if desired. Serve hot with whipped cream.
