Double Boiler Hot Chocolate With Whipped Cream

  • 1 ounce unsweetened chocolate
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons hot water
  • 2 cups scalded milk
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla (optional)
  • whipped cream for serving

Method

  1. 1 Cut chocolate into small pieces and place in a saucepan with sugar and hot water.
  2. 2 Boil the mixture, stirring constantly, until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
  3. 3 Gradually stir in the scalded milk.
  4. 4 Cook in a double boiler for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. 5 Remove from heat and stir in vanilla if desired. Serve hot with whipped cream.
