Dill Pickle Recipe

Ingredients

  • small cucumbers
  • salt
  • water
  • cabbage leaves
  • weak vinegar
  • cloves
  • peppers
  • horseradish
  • mustard
  • strong vinegar

Method

  1. 1 Pack small cucumbers into a jar with enough salt to make a pickle. Add water to cover; add more salt if needed after a few days.
  2. 2 After two weeks, place cucumbers in a kettle with cabbage leaves around and through them. Fill with weak vinegar and scald for three hours.
  3. 3 Transfer everything to a jar and let sit for three days. Remove cucumbers and discard the vinegar and leaves.
  4. 4 Return cucumbers to the jar with cloves, peppers, horseradish, and mustard. Boil strong vinegar and pour it over them.
