Dill Pickle Recipe
Ingredients
- small cucumbers
- salt
- water
- cabbage leaves
- weak vinegar
- cloves
- peppers
- horseradish
- mustard
- strong vinegar
Method
- 1 Pack small cucumbers into a jar with enough salt to make a pickle. Add water to cover; add more salt if needed after a few days.
- 2 After two weeks, place cucumbers in a kettle with cabbage leaves around and through them. Fill with weak vinegar and scald for three hours.
- 3 Transfer everything to a jar and let sit for three days. Remove cucumbers and discard the vinegar and leaves.
- 4 Return cucumbers to the jar with cloves, peppers, horseradish, and mustard. Boil strong vinegar and pour it over them.
