Deep Fried Tangle Pastries
Ingredients
- ½ lb butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 6 eggs, beaten
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- about 5 cups flour
Method
- 1 Cream together the butter and sugar. Add the eggs and beat well.
- 2 Sift in the cinnamon and enough flour to make a stiff dough.
- 3 Roll out the dough very thin (about 1/8 inch) on a floured board.
- 4 Cut into 3x5 inch rectangles. Make 5 lengthwise cuts ½ inch apart, 4½ inches long, keeping the rectangle intact.
- 5 Fry in hot deep fat (360°F) for 2 minutes until they bob up.
- 6 While frying, pull up strips 1, 3, and 5 and let strips 2, 4, and 6 sag to tangle them. Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with molasses and serve hot.
