Deep Fried Cauliflower Florets

Ingredients

  • 1 cauliflower, separated into flowerets
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • French dressing (optional)
  • Breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • Deep fat for frying
  • Tartar sauce or Tomato sauce for serving

Method

  1. 1 Parboil cauliflower flowerets in salted water for 5 minutes, then change water and cook until tender. Drain and dry thoroughly.
  2. 2 If desired, marinate the cauliflower in French dressing. Prepare a breading station with breadcrumbs, and a mixture of beaten egg and water.
  3. 3 Dip cauliflower first in crumbs, then in the egg mixture, and finally in crumbs or batter to coat evenly.
  4. 4 Fry in deep fat until golden brown. Serve immediately with Tartar or Tomato sauce.
