Date Milk Cake
Ingredients
- 1 cup pitted dates, chopped
- 2 cups milk
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 heaping teaspoon baking powder
- 3 cups flour
- 1 egg, well beaten
Method
- 1 Mix the egg and milk in a bowl.
- 2 Sift the flour and baking powder together.
- 3 Add the chopped dates to the dry ingredients.
- 4 Combine the wet and dry mixtures, stirring until just incorporated.
- 5 Beat the batter vigorously.
- 6 Pour into well-buttered gem-irons and bake for about 20 minutes.
