Custard Bread Pudding With Candied Fruit
Ingredients
- Bread crumbs (enough to fill small cups 2/3 full)
- Chopped candied fruit (a little)
- 2 eggs
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1½ cups milk
- Vanilla or wine sauce (for serving)
Method
- 1 Grease small cups and fill them 2/3 full with bread crumbs and a little chopped candied fruit.
- 2 Beat 2 eggs without separating, then mix in 2 tablespoons of sugar and 1½ cups of milk.
- 3 Pour the egg mixture carefully over the crumbs in the cups.
- 4 Stand the cups in a pan of boiling water and bake in a moderate oven (350°F) for 15 minutes.
- 5 Turn out onto plates and serve with vanilla or wine sauce.
