  • 1/2 pound butter
  • 2 eggs, well beaten
  • 1/2 pound currants
  • 1/2 pound powdered sugar
  • 1 pound flour
  • Blanched almonds, powdered to paste (optional substitute for currants)

Method

  1. 1 Beat the butter with a spoon until quite soft.
  2. 2 Add the well-beaten eggs, currants, and powdered sugar to the butter.
  3. 3 Mix in the flour by degrees until combined.
  4. 4 Drop the mixture onto a baking sheet.
  5. 5 Bake until done.
