Crispy Apple Rings Fritters
Ingredients
- 1 cup sifted flour
- 1½ teaspoons baking powder
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup milk
- 1 egg
- 4 large apples
- melted shortening for frying
- sugar and cinnamon for sprinkling
Method
- 1 Sift together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt in a bowl.
- 2 Add the milk and egg to the dry ingredients and beat well until smooth.
- 3 Peel, core, and slice the apples into rings about ¼ inch thick.
- 4 Dip the apple rings in the batter and drop them into a skillet with ½ inch of hot melted shortening.
- 5 Fry until golden brown on both sides, then drain on a paper towel.
- 6 Mix sugar and cinnamon together and sprinkle over the warm fritters before serving.
