Crisco Thickened Tomato Soup
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1.5 tablespoons Crisco
- 1 cup milk
- 2.5 cups strained tomato juice
- 1 teaspoon celery salt
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Paprika to taste
- Pinch baking soda
- 1 tablespoon tomato catsup
Method
- 1 Blend Crisco and flour in a saucepan over heat.
- 2 Add milk and bring to a boil.
- 3 Heat tomato juice, catsup, soda, and seasonings separately.
- 4 Stir the Crisco mixture into the tomato juice and boil.
- 5 Serve hot with whipped cream if desired.
